Well worth the Wait: Our Pulp Fiction Pinball Journey!
Some issues in life are completely well worth the wait—like the right espresso, a fantastic live performance, or lastly getting your fingers on that dream pinball machine. On this case, we waited virtually TWO YEARS (sure, you learn that proper!) for our Pulp Fiction Dangerous Mom Flipper Restricted Version pinball machine (Ed: Wow, that identify is a mouthful!).
The Thrill of the Chase
Our quest started in March 2023, when a fateful social media put up set our pinball-loving hearts racing. A brand new machine was coming, designed by Mark Ritchie (sure, THAT Mark Ritchie!) from Play Mechanix, underneath the umbrella of RAW Thrills, and manufactured by Chicago Gaming Firm.
Once I hit play on the official trailer, Ms. Ausretrogamer occurred to stroll previous. Her response?
💥 “We HAVE to get this!”
💥 “We HAVE to get the Restricted Version with that incredible topper!”
Effectively, as a licensed pinball tragic, I didn’t want a lot convincing. The one drawback? Securing one.
A Little Pinball Luck
Name it destiny, serendipity, or simply good timing—Wayne from Mr. Pinball Australia despatched out an e-mail simply an hour after the trailer dropped. He had all the main points on methods to lock in an order, and I wasn’t about to waste a second.
My reply? “Lock us in for a Dangerous Mom Flipper Restricted Version!”. Deposit paid. Order confirmed. Now all we needed to do was… wait.
The Agonising Wait
At first, we had been optimistic. Manufacturing was presupposed to kick off in late 2023—excellent timing for an epic Christmas shock! However because the weeks was months, doubts began creeping in. Pinball boards buzzed with information of delays, and it turned clear that our persistence was about to be significantly examined.
23 Months Later… Jackpot!
Because the saying goes, “Good issues come to those that wait”—and on this case, 23 months of ready!
Then, the second we’d been dreaming of lastly arrived: an e-mail confirming our machine was prepared for pickup! 🎉 The thrill was REAL. Seeing that notification pop up put a huge grin on my face—and on Ms. Ausretrogamer’s too!
We had finished it. We had secured considered one of our dream pinball machines, and now it was lastly coming residence to the Ausretrogamer Enjoyable Manufacturing facility.
Was it well worth the wait? Completely. Now, if you happen to’ll excuse us, we’ve acquired some flippin’ to do! 😎🎮
